In just his first full season as a head coach, Stevan Karadzic has already accomplished something special by taking Hemofarm Stada to the Eurocup Final Eight despite having one of the competition's youngest rosters. In Karadzic, Hemofarm knew exactly whom it was hiring last summer, because he had already earned a reputation in Serbia as a brilliant talent evaluator and teacher. Although he was mainly an assistant coach until now, success followed Karadzic almost every summer with various Serbian national teams. He was head coach for several of Serbia’s youth teams, including gold-medal winners at the European cadets championships in 2001 and at the European junior championships in 2005. In between those successes, he had an even bigger one, as assistant coach on nothing less than the Serbia and Montenegro senior team that struck gold at the 2002 World Championships. Karadzic was a rookie on the bench in the ULEB Cup last season, guiding Crvena Zvezda, his club for nine years as a professional player, but falling short of the Final Eight. This year, all his experiences have come together to help Karadzic form Hemofarm's youngsters into a cohesive unit that lands at the Final Eight in Turin ready to take its best shot at the Eurocup crown!
